Auto Maintenance in Jacksonville | Maxi Auto Care

We believe that maintenance is key to a car’s longevity. Scheduled maintenance is a little tricky. If you go by the manufacturer’s maintenance schedule solely then you set yourself up to need a car in their time window. In other words it is important to do at least the minimum the manufacturer recommends but that does not insure a car lasting for a couple of hundred thousand miles. For example, most manufacturers set their oil change reminders to illuminate at 7500 miles. In reality if you change your engine oil at this interval you will be lucky to go 120k plus without gunking up your engine and risking failure. However if you change your oil and filter every 3-4,000 miles the engine will remain clean and properly lubricated and barring any overheating problems or unforeseen problems you stand to get the maximum out of your engine.

This philosophy stands true for all of the lubricated items on a vehicle. Below I will lay out some overall basics for maintenance that will allow for the best possible service from your vehicle. It is up to the customer if they want to follow the manufacturers maintenance schedule to the letter or substitute some of these recommendations for their vehicle.
